What is Good Aura Co?
Good Aura Co. is a UK based homeware company specialising in candles and wax melts, using their expertise to create beautiful smelling, long lasting vegan and cruelty-free candles designed to match any mood or environment.
Who started Good Aura Co.?
Lucy Rogers did in 2018. After being frustrated with luxurious designer and high street candles that she could never smell them after a while or that would tunnel, she set out to make candles that have a scent that actually lasts, that's also vegan and cruelty-free.
What ingredients do you use?
All of our ingredients are carefully sourced with UK suppliers, are vegan, never tested on animals so are cruelty-free. We use locally sourced biodegradable soy wax and cotton wicks. We don't add any glitter or colours to our candles because we just don't think they need it! Whilst our scents are strong they aren't designed to be overpowering and because of this, we use a really thoughtful process to ensure your candle is safe and lasts. Our wax melts and candles are made using a blend of fine fragrance oils.
Why do you use fragrance oil instead of essential oils?
Good question!
When we started the company, the first purpose was to solve a big problem of candles, that the scents smelt very synthetic or not at all or were very expensive. The Founder, Lucy also personally found essential oils irritate her asthma and eczema but not when using fine fragrance oils. Also, that her pets were happy around the scents near the studio. This is complete personal preference. Being neurodiverse, she was meticulous about finding a scent that didn't cause a sensory overload but enhanced it.
Our scents have complex scent profiles and are often more sustainable to produce and allow us to continue to offer our products at accessible price points. We are passionate about being easy on the environment and constantly work to improve it.
They also meet the high quality standards we have for our candles, which fit into various principles - burning evenly (so no wax is wasted around the edge), when it cools it's flat across the top so it lasts a lot longer and that you can smell even when not lit.
How do you do your bit for the environment?
We constantly follow practices daily to always act with ethical and good intention whenever possible. So we do the following:
- When possible using UK based suppliers, which helps reduce our own carbon footprint and support other UK businesses and manufacturing whilst still making every candle and wax melt ourselves.
- Our products are vegan and cruelty-free and our supplies have never been tested on animals. Our wax is biodegradable and made in the UK. Your wax melt bags are also biodegradable, except for the safety label at the back which is recyclable that can be easily peeled off and put in recycling. They will be changed to biodegradable just as soon as they run out!
- Our candles using only high quality ingredients that we have extensively tested, following all safety measures.
- Using environmentally friendly packaging. Our boxes and labels are recyclable as are the small plastic seals on the Pillow Spray bottles and sometimes recyclable plastic air protectors, which we need so they don't leak during delivery. With any packing peanuts* in your order, you can put them under a running cold tap and they breakdown and dissolve in water and are biodegradable.
- *The Packing Peanuts are just similar to peanuts in shape and do not contain any trace of peanuts.
- All our deliveries are also carbon offset.
- We also have a refill range, where you can order the jars and refill the candles with a new scent once finished!
